Scottish food, music and dance.

Year 2 enjoyed a last day of school with a mini Scottish party which involved sampling some Scottish treats.
Scottish porridge
Scottish shortbread biscuits
Scotch pancakes

Yummy!

We then listened to some traditional Scottish music and celebrated by doing our Scottish country dancing.  A lovely day to break up for the October half term.  Have a fab time.

Charles Rennie Mackintosh

Another fab art work.  We looked at Charles Rennie Mackintosh last week (a Scottish artist).  We looked at using different textures to recreate some of his art nouveau work.

We used coloured wool which we glued onto sugar paper.  The results were excellent!

Kandinsky Art

Year 2 worked extremely hard in small groups of 3 to paint their own Kandinsky Circles painting.  I'm extremely impressed with the results. Well done Year 2!

Black History - Mary Seacole

Year 2 shared their facts about Mary Seacole in assembly.

 Mary was born in 1805

Mary went to help the soldiers in the Crimean War and she met Florence Nightingale.

We drew portraits of Mary Seacole.

Sorting leaves

Year 2 had a fun day out in the autumn sun this morning.  We went onto the field to collect leaves! The children worked in a group to decide how they wanted to sort them.
They decided that they could be sorted by colours, size, shape, bumps or patterns on the leaves as well leaves from the same tree!

Kandinsky Circles

We have been inspired by Kandinsky and used pastels to create our own Sandridge Circles.  I have been very impressed with their art work and I'm sure you will be blown away by your child's artwork too.

We love reading!

Year 2 welcomed children in Year 1 into class to support them with their reading.  We had a lot of fun and finished the afternoon watching a story teller.  We listened to 'The Little Red Hen' and one of Year 2 favourite traditional tales, 'Rumplestiltskin'.
